Helping children and young people to develop to their full potential
Founded in April 2002, Josefs House (a voluntary non-profit community organisation) was the creation of Antoinette Daley. Inspired by her son Josef, Antoinette wanted to create a safe and secure environment where children and young adults could escape to peaceful and therapeutic surroundings to study and learn without interruption or distraction. The ethos is to develop the potential of all children and young people by listening and observing. Once talent and interests are identified it is Antoinette's 'job', along with her small army of committee members and volunteers to help, support and empower.
Antoinette believes that 'all children have a dream, and it is my aim to give them a chance to realise their dream and go the distance'.
Antoinette, who has 17 years experience as a foster mum, adds “The aim of Josef's House is to create a safe place where all children can excel in their own way. Not all children fit into a box. Not all are academic. In mainstream school, the creative children often feel frustrated. They never come first and this dents their confidence. Children are able to express their anguish through creative therapy and the arts.”
